For fanatics who are already eager to get a hold of the sportier and sleeker Civic Sedan, the long wait is over. Honda finally unwraps the 2016 Civic Sedan, heralded as the company's most ambitious remake of Civic ever, and is slated to hit showrooms in the coming weeks in the U.S.
This new model unveiled in Los Angeles on Sept. 16 is said to be compatible with Apple CarPlay. The Sedan also supports Android Auto, according to Honda.
Users can make calls, get directions, send and receive messages, as well as listen to their favorite music using on an iPhone. Apple CarPlay can be integrated into to the built-in display of the car. This functionality is compatible with iOS 8.4 or later and with the iPhone 5 or later.
The new Civic is also expected to work with Android 5.0 and higher. Android Auto features Google Now, Google Maps, music, messaging and a wide array of apps.
"Android Auto was designed to give drivers a simple, intuitive way through touch and voice to minimize the potential for distraction so the driver can stay focused on the road," said the blog.
The all-new Civic Sedan now comes with an edgier, more athletic look to recapture the sporty character of the model, according to Honda.
The Civic Sedan is deemed by the company as the first in the new 10th-generation Civic models. The vehicle will then be followed by the coupe, high-performance and sporty Si models, a five-door hatchback as well as the first-ever Civic Type-R model.
Backing up the new Civic, which is set to hit the road soon, is its new power and efficiency.
"For the first time, the 2016 Civic will feature two all-new engines, including the first-ever application of Honda turbo engine technology in the U.S.," read the blog post.
The Civic Sedan is powered by either a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine or a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.
In terms of dimensions, the 2016 Honda Civic is nearly two inches wider and one inch lower with a 1.2-inch longer wheelbase. It also features a longer, more aggressive hood as well as a stylish fastback tail.
The refined model is also equipped with all LED headlights, taillights, as well as exterior lights.
Reports say, since the model was introduced in 1972, Honda has already sold over 10 million Civic units to car buyers in the U.S. Around 9 million of the total sales were built in the U.S.
