If you love taking selfies, Sony gives you Xperia C3

With selfies being all the rage, Sony is looking to cash in on the current craze and has launched the Xperia C3 smartphone which it claims is the "world's best selfie smartphone."

Sony unveiled the Xperia C3, touted as the "ultimatenew smartphone for selfies" on Tuesday, July 8, in London. The Xperia C3 comes with a "powerful" PROselfie front-facing camera and selfie apps.

"Xperia C3 is a unique new smartphone from Sony, created to offer the ultimate social sharing experience with a new powerful 'PROselfie cam.' It also presents a combination of the best of Sony, with leading digital imaging technology and brilliant specs and performance all for a mid-range price," says Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications.

Dedicated to taking selfies, the Xperia C3 will pack in a 5-megapixel wide-angle secondary camera that also comes with Superior Auto mode, which adjusts the pictures automatically for perfect light conditions. Moreover, the Xperia C3's selfie camera will benefit from soft LED flash irrespective of the lighting conditions in the surroundings.

The Android-powered Sony smartphone also packs in user-friendly apps that will enhance the selfie experience. The Xperia C3 also has AR affect which lets you add fun graphics and animations alike laser eyes, pirate hats etc.

Selfie addicts can deploy the Portrait Retouch camera app to edit their close-ups in real-time. There are 10 types of Deco frames to choose from as well for those looking to jazz up their selfies.

The Xperia C3's specs suggest that Sony is targeting the mid-range segment. The sleek smartphone (7.6 mm thin) which weighs 150 gms will surely hit a chord with young adults looking for a robust smartphone.

The Xperia C3 boasts a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and pixel density of 267 ppi. Under the hood, the Sony smartphone packs in a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The smartphone also has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board memory, a 2,500 mAh battery and an 8-megapixel primary camera with Exmor RS sensor. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and is dual-SIM.

The Xperia C3 will be available from August in three colors - black, white and mint. The smartphone will first make its way to China and other countries will follow suit. The price point for the Sony Xperia C3 is currently not known but MacDougall revealed it will be available for "a mid-range price."
