Wild Sheep Studio, the developer of the upcoming Playstation 4 exclusive Wild, revealed the project at Paris Games Week. The title is an open world survival game that follows the adventures of an ancient shaman who is deeply connected to Mother Nature.
The shaman's link to Mother Nature allows the gamer to possess animals and summon beasts, with Wild Sheep creative director Michel Ancel stating that discovering the relationship between man and nature is the essence of the game.
Ancel, through a post on the official PlayStation blog, revealed more details on the title, such as the fact that gamers can choose to play either as a male or female shaman.
The video that unveiled Wild at the Paris Games Week featured a male shaman exploring the prehistoric landscape. However, Ancel confirmed that gamers will have the option to play as a female shaman instead. Whichever gender the gamer chooses, Wild will start from the beginning of the life of the character, and the story will unfold as the characters grow and develop their powers as they accumulate experience through their adventures.
In addition to the choice of gender, Ancel said that the open world title will give gamers with complete choice on which direction to take the development of their characters too. For example, gamers can choose to first master controlling small animals such as frogs, or work hard at the onset and focus on mastering bigger animals such as bears and wolves.
Wild will also be featuring a multiplayer mode that will allow other gamers to explore each other's world in the game, with players given the chance to have an effect on the progress of other players. This particular mode was not featured at Paris Games Week, but it is said to have drawn inspiration from the multiplayer facets of the popular Bloodborne.
There has been no release date set yet for Wild, with the game still having a long way to go in its development, Ancel said.
