Want an old iPhone? Apple's selling them on eBay

Apple is giving customers a gateway to purchase old iPhones via eBay. The company is selling recertified iPhones on the auction site for cheap prices.

The affordable older models of the iPhone also come with a full warranty from Apple. These refurbished phones are also unlocked, so customers will be able to turn them on and start using them right away after they get service for the popular cell phone.

According to at least one news report, iPhone 5S models are available on the eBay store from Apple. In one cited example, a 16 GB iPhone 5 in black or white could be had for $449. That's at least a savings of about $200. The 32 GB model in black was listed at $479, which saves around $270.

Apple and eBay have partnered before and language on the store site is similar to what was used previously, but there is no direct indication that Apple is affiliated with the store. It was reported that a final quality inspection is made by Apple for the refurbished iPhones.

Reports indicate that the phones could render cheaper service than a new model. However, the two-year contracts will save dollars on a new phone in comparison.

It is expected that the 64 GB version of the iPhone 5 will sell out the fastest.

The iPhone 6 is expected to come to the market this fall and there have also been retail price drops on the iPhone 5S and 5C models at Wal-Mart and Best Buy.
