As all "The Walking Dead" fans know, death spares no one in the AMC series adapted from the same-titled comic book series by Robert Kirkman. In the third episode of its sixth season, fans are, again, faced with the possibility that one of the series' beloved characters may have bitten the dust. Before you continue reading, let it be known that, if you have not watched the third episode of "The Walking Dead," there are spoilers ahead and you might want to stop reading. Then again, you can always satisfy your curiosity by reading more.
The episode starts off with everyone, the survivors we've followed the entire series and the Alexandrians, splitting up to get back to safety while Rick devises a way to distract the zombie horde. Unfortunately, the group of survivors making their way back to Alexandria gets attacked as well, leaving some injured, a few dead, and the others with the possibility of joining their dead companions soon enough. It also leaves Glen Rhee thinking that he has a brilliant plan that can get Michonne, Heath and some Alexandrians, back to safety.
After setting off with Nicholas, whom he had recently forgiven, to distract the zombie horde, they get trapped by walkers in an alley where they scrambledup on a dumpster in a futile effort to live a little longer. Perhaps thinking that all hope is lost and not wanting to feel any pain when the horde finally gets to him, Nicholas utters a "Thank You" to Glen and shoots himself. However, as his body fell, Glen gets taken down with him and fans are now split between those who are mourning the loss of Glen and those who believe that he will make it out of there somehow and return to Maggie because there's another way of death he has to face in the comics.
The cast isn't talking about the possibility of Glen's survival and Steven Yeun, who plays Glen, isn't helping either. "We talk in terms of 'are you afraid to get killed off?' And for me, if it serves the story, I'm game for anything. I hope people can watch the show in that same regard," Yeun said.
"The Talking Dead" didn't feature Yeun yet but "The Walking Dead" showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, just wants to mess with our minds. "In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story, to help complete the story," Gimple said in a statement.
