Preacher fans, your day has come: AMC has announced that it will air the first official trailer for its newest and latest comic book-based television series this Sunday, Oct. 25, during the upcoming episode for its flagship series The Walking Dead.
Created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, the DC imprint Vertigo comic about a bonafide Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is possessed by an unfathomable force, was a late '90s staple franchise. The popularity of the series produced 75 regular issues, a limited series and nine collected trade paperback editions during its run, which lasted from 1995 to 2000.
Produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin, the show will star Agent Carter's Dominic Cooper as the titular preacher, as well as Ruth Nega as Tulip O'Hare, Joe Gilgun as Cassidy and Tom Brooke as Fiore. With both Ennis and Dillon serving as executive producers for the show, there's a very good chance that Preacher is in safe hands over at AMC.
Here's AMC's official synopsis for the show:
"Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, and has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned his responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making him answer for his dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print — an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers — a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse."
