Watch The Terrifying Trailer for 'Slender: The Arrival' On Wii U

Although a lot of gamers tend to overlook the Wii U, occasionally, a really cool game comes along that makes the console look more attractive to those who don't already own one.

One such game is Slender: The Arrival, which launched today on the console, just in time for the spookiest holiday of the year, Halloween.

Slender: The Arrival uses the Wii Remote as an in-game flashlight: players move it around to shine a light on their environments, searching for clues as to who or what the Slender Man really is. Players take on the role of a Slender Man-obsessed young woman named Lauren as she searches for her missing friend, Kate. Lauren must use Kate's abandoned flashlight to explore creepy old houses, mines and dark forests to uncover the mystery behind Slender Man and find her friend. Of course, she must also stay safe from Slender Man, who stalks her.

"The nightmarish Slender Man is described by eyewitnesses as a thin, unnaturally tall man dressed in a black suit with a blank, featureless face," writes developer Blue Isle Studios in a press email. "Slender: The Arrival brings extended levels and a unique story to the world of Slender Man that continues to unfold the terrifying mythos. Players are enveloped in a world of sensory deprivation filled with haunting visions and audio cues that create a healthy dose of tension and paranoia."

Slender: The Arrival also released a new launch trailer today, showcasing the game's spooky environments and Wii U gameplay:

Blue Isle worked on the title with Eric "Victor Surge" Knudson, the man behind the stories of Slender Man that took the Internet by storm.

"You're on your own," reads the official game website. "No one to come for you. No one to help you. No one to hear you scream. Slender: The Arrival is the official video game adaption of Slender Man, developed in collaboration with Eric "Victor Surge" Knudson, creator of the paranormal phenomenon that has been terrifying the curious-minded around the world since its inception, with Mark Hadley and Blue Isle Studios."

Slender: The Arrival arrives on the Wii U today. The game is also available for the PlayStation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game also supports Oculus Rift.
