Last month, the Sept. 21 episode of WWE's Monday Night Raw drew the lowest ratings in the show's history since 1997.
Less than a month later, this past Oct. 19 episode of Raw hit its lowest rating numbers in 18 years with a 2.21 rating, matching the Christmas Eve 2012 episode for the lowest Raw rating since the mid-1990s, according to PWTorch.
It's surprising, considering this past Monday night's episode opened with The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar and featured appearances from legends such as Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Ric Flair. What more can fans want?
There's no doubt, though, that Raw lost viewers to a Monday Night Football matchup that pitted the New York Giants against the Philadelphia Eagles and included a halftime unleashing of the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Raw reportedly drew 3.6 million viewers in the first hour, before falling to 3.3 million in the second hour and 3.1 million in the third. That's a shame, as the episode had plenty of great moments.
All this being said, WWE's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view card this Sunday couldn't come at a better time.
That's because, traditionally, the Raw episodes following pay-per-views score huge ratings, as the WWE Universe can't wait to see how the storylines continue to unfold. Let's see if the show can rebound and possibly build on its numbers this Monday.
