Would you like to multi-task on your older iPad and peruse the multi-window split view option even though it's not an iPad Air 2? Now, thanks to a jailbreak you can.
With the arrival of iOS 9, iPad users benefit from a new feature - Split View multitasking - but this is only available for the iPad Air 2 and the impending iPad Pro.
To take advantage of the Split View multitasking feature on the older iPads, one must first jailbreak the tablet. The process for the same is relatively easy and we have a tutorial for the same.
However, it is advisable that one does not jailbreak their iPad as this may brick the device. But if you're still keen on running two applications simultaneously, as well videos in the Picture-in-Picture mode then we have a solution for you.
The jailbreak tweak will add the Split View feature to work on older iPads as well. Here's a step-by-step guide to enable the feature.
Requirements
1. A jailbroken iPad running on iOS 9 - check the above-mentioned tutorial for the process.
2. More than 50 percent battery charge on your iPad.
3. Sufficient free memory space.
Remember to create a back-up of all your important data prior to attempting the installation.
Process
Step 1: Open Cydia on your jailbroken iPad running on iOS 9.
Step 2: Add the repository https://repo.cpdigitaldarkroom.com to your Cydia sources. This can be done by tapping Sources tab. Hit the Edit button next on the top-right. Next, tap Add on the top-left. Finally, enter repo.cpdigitaldarkroom.com in the text box. Tap Add Source. Wait while Cydia compiles it.
Step 3: Download Medusa and install the tweak. Medusa will enable the Split View multitasking feature on your older iPad.
Once Medusa has been installed, you are good to go and peruse Split View multitasking. No need to fiddle with any other settings to enable the feature. Open an app swipe it inwards from the right side of the screen. Doing this brings up Slide Over. Scroll to select any app visible on the list and open it.
You can tap as well as hold the separator between the different apps. The separator can be dragged across the screen as well and you can even adjust the size of the app windows.
