Remember Where's Waldo? The picture book series from the 1980s sent kids on a search for a tall, lanky, goofy-looking guy in a striped candy cane sweater and a silly hat, amid dense drawings of various complex scenes.
Waldo's winning formula has been emulated many times, but the latest is a great way for nerds to geekify their kids — while helping with their cognitive development.
Where's the Wookie? from Egmont Publishing features elaborate illustrations by artist Ulises Farinas, with the world's favorite Wookiee buried among countless other Star Wars figures amid familiar surroundings. Farinas' drawings are detailed enough to be entertaining on their own, with every square inch filled with delightful little minutia. Locations depicted in the book include Mos Eisley, an Ewok village, the Death Star and more.
It's not the first time a Waldo-alike has been made based on Star Wars, but it's definitely one of the best-looking copycats we've ever seen. A number of third-party sellers have the 40-page book available on Amazon starting around $12 (plus $4 or more in shipping).
As a British import, it doesn't appear to be available in any American stores, or online at other traditional book retailers like Barnes & Noble. However, given all the publicity it's gotten over the last few days, perhaps the publisher will consider printing a run for U.S. readers.
