The Nexus 6P is one of the newest Android-based devices from Google and, from what critics have to say, it is the Android handsets to beat this year and in 2016.
It seems as if Google has made a lot of changes to combat issues that users had with the previous Nexus smartphones. The camera and battery capacity are better this time around.
The handset cost more, but quality requires money, and we're glad Google went down this route instead of aiming to deliver something that is very cheap yet underwhelming.
The device comes packed with a solid 12.3MP sharpshooter that appears to take great photos. Battery life is essential, and the operating system (Android 6.0) blends in well.
For buyers who are coming from an iPhone, we suggest they look into the Nexus 6P instead of the Nexus 5X. It is the more powerful of the two, but don't expect to take advantage of 3D Touch because this feature is not yet available on Android devices outside of the Huawei Mate S with its Force Touch.
Let's see what critics have to say about the Nexus 6P:
Sherri L. Smith of Tom's Guide: If you love stock Android and a well-designed smartphone with long battery life, great cameras and a powerful processor, you're going to love the Nexus 6P. The $549 aluminum body shouts "flagship" to all that behold its metallic beauty. And with more than 12 hours of battery life, this smartphone outlasts all of its competition.
Chris Velazco of Engadget: The Nexus 6P isn't a perfect phone. Its power button is frustratingly touchy. Its design is a little lacking in charm. The camera, while better, isn't a huge leap over last year's. And yet, what Google and Huawei get right, they get very right. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is a thoughtful, valuable update even if it's not as outright dramatic as Lollipop was.
Matthew Miller of ZDNet: I usually expect to be let down in some area with a Nexus phone, but that is not the case this year with the Nexus 6P and I struggled to find any cons. If you want to save some money over the current Samsung and Apple products, you can't go wrong with the Nexus 6P. It's a rather large phone, but if size isn't an issue then the Nexus 6P is tough to beat.
