The people who make the experiences that make consoles worth owning are now receiving software developments for the Nintendo NX, a device that'll feature top-of-the-line processors and will live life both in and out of living spaces, according to a report last Friday.
Nintendo isn't ready to talk about a due date or share any progress reports about its upcoming console. But despite the company's efforts to keep the talk about the NX under wraps until 2016, it's also looking more like Nintendo will be due to push the NX out into the world next year.
With the Wii U underperforming and the 3DS's shoulders a bit weaker than its predecessors, Nintendo needs something to prop up its business and analyst are increasingly of the idea that the NX will arrive next year to shoulder that burden. And from the way things sound, the NX will be built to bear it.
While past Nintendo consoles haven't come close to the processing power of offerings from Sony and Microsoft, the top-of-the-line chips inside of the NX will rival the might of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
And though Nintendo has let on with its plans to publish mobile games with its endeared and traditionally protected intellectual property, the game maker isn't ready to cede mobile gaming to Android and iOS.
The NX will pick up where the WIi U left off by offering a system that features a console and a handheld component that'll leave players take their games on the road. But the exact form factor of the NX hardware still isn't clear yet.
"People familiar with the development plans said Nintendo would likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use," states the report. "They also said Nintendo would aim to put industry-leading chips in the NX devices, after criticism that the Wii U's capabilities didn't match those of competitors."
It probably won't be until early 2016 when Nintendo will finally confirm these juicy bits that have been trickling out of its camp. But for now, it appears the rumors will keep flowing as Nintendo finalizes its NX plans.
