Bethesda has been releasing a new video for each letter of Fallout 4's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. character building system, and this week Agility is the stat we're learning about.
Those with high agility in Fallout 4 will be able to more quickly navigate the radiated Wasteland, but a that's not all it does. Agility also plays an important role in combat, or if you prefer, in avoiding combat all together. A higher agility means more Action Points in the game's slow-mo V.A.T.S. targeting mode, allowing players to take aim at specific body parts of enemies for maximum damage. More action points means you will be able to spend more time in V.A.T.S. and take out more enemies, as the cartoon below shows.
If you are looking to take a stealthy approach to Bethesda's new open world RPG you'll want a high Agility as well. A high agility will allow you to sneak more effectively. That means you'll have the ability to sneak past enemies all together or ambush them for critical strikes.
Like in previous Vault-Tec videos, we get a tease of some of the Agility focused perks players will be able to choose from in the game. It looks like the Mister Sandman perk will be returning, which in Fallout 3 allowed the player to instantly kill sleeping enemies and gain bonus XP for doing so. A perk that allows for faster weapon reload times will also be available.
With Agility out of the way, only one stat from the game's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system remains: Luck. If you're curious about how the various stats and perks in Fallout 4 will work, be sure to check out this breakdown. If you have yet to watch Bethesda's Intelligence video, you'll find that here.
Fallout 4 releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on Nov. 10.
