Acer made an impression at IFA this year, where it presented its revamped monitor collection. The Predator X34 is the first of the three beastly gaming monitors to come out into the spotlight.
The 34-inch gaming display relies on an increasingly popular design choice. The 21:9 aspect ratio comes close to the real-life vision, which could not happen in a 16:9 ratio. The slightly curved shape increases the immersion factor, and the more monitors you line up, the better.
In opposition to a 4K display, which will drain the life out of your graphics card, the QHD 3,440x1,440 resolution of the Predator X34 is just high enough without being back-breaking. The tilt and height of the monitor are adjustable for increased ergonomics. Its stand allows for height movement over a 5-inch range and you can tilt the monitor from -5 to +35 degrees. Acer considered the needs of gamers who prefer their monitors to be wall-mounted and provided a VESA option.
60 Hz is the standard refresh rate, but the manufacturer allows an overclock up to 100Hz.This translates directly into more frames per second and less motion blur.
"We believe the Predator X34 offers one of the smoothest, most thrilling game experiences available today," Acer America product manager, Charlotte Chen, said.
Nvidia's G-Sync is one prominent feature of the screen. To reach its maximum potential, the display needs a GTX 650 Ti Boost or newer running over DisplayPort. If that is not your current GPU configuration, however, the X34 carries an HDMI port, and a four-port USB 3.0 hub.
More specs detail that the response time is only 4ms, and you even get 14W of built-in amplification with DTS Sound from the stereo speakers placed right under the front edge of the display.
ComfyView and Eye Protect functionalities cater to the health of the gamers' eyes. Both features keep the eyestrain to a minimum. ComfyView uses the semi-matte coating on the panel to secure less glow, Eye Protect makes adjustments to color, contrast and brightness to make sure those long gaming sessions go interrupted, even during nighttime.
Aside from being a mighty output device, Predator X34 is stylish as well. Its underglow lighting makes sure that your other peripherals receive a matching chromatic, and all colors and lighting profiles are easily interchangeable.
If you've been really-really good this year, you can find the Acer Predator X34 under your Christmas tree. You just have to refund Santa Claus for $1,300.
