OnePlus is boosting the hype ahead of its OnePlus X unveiling, teasing something #PowerfullyBeautiful to debut later this month, on Oct. 29.
The company made a name for itself by creating affordable "flagship killers" with high-end specs at far lower prices than other flagships with comparable specifications, and its OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 handsets saw great demand.
One drawback with OnePlus devices, however, is the fact that the company relies on an invite-only system to sell the handsets. This has drawn plenty of criticism from fans, as it makes it harder for customers to purchase the smartphone. The company ditched the invite system for its original OnePlus One a year after it launched the smartphone, but unleashed its OnePlus 2 on the same infamous invite-only basis.
The rumor mill has been buzzing recently in anticipation of a new OnePlus X smartphone and it now seems that we finally have an official launch date. OnePlus doesn't specifically note what it plans to unveil at the upcoming Oct. 29 event in London, but the teaser it posted is accompanied by an image of an X that shines brightly. The OnePlus X is expected to launch on the same invite-based system as the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2.
When it comes to specifications, the OnePlus X is expected to pack a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front shooter, a 2,450 mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner and LTE connectivity. The display size remains unclear for now, as some reports hinted at a 5-inch panel while others claimed it would have a larger 5.5-inch display. Some reports also mentioned a dual rear camera setup or a Mediatek Helio X10 processor, but it's all unconfirmed at this point.
In other words, the upcoming OnePlus X is still shrouded in mystery for the most part, as different reports and leaks hint at different specs and designs. As always in such cases, it's best to take all leaks and rumors with a hefty grain of salt until the official announcement, as at least some of them will turn out to be inaccurate.
With OnePlus' big event just around the corner, however, we'll soon learn all there is to know about the #PowerfullyBeautiful OnePlus X smartphone straight from the source.
