Mark Hamill played the role on MythBuster recently when he called out the "flub" that people caught in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
The factoid claims that when Luke come out of his X-Wing, following the Battle of Yavin, in his excitement shouts "Carrie!" instead of "Leia!" as Carrie Fisher runs into his arms.
This flub has been around for a while, but has recently surfaced and once again caught the attention of the Internet in a viral video about movie mistakes that made it into the final version of the movie. While many fans took to this judgment and accepted it, Bruce White took to Twitter and asked the man himself.
"Old myth that you yelled 'Carrie!' after the Death Star attack in Ep4. Care to weigh in? I call bs on this," White asked, in reply to a link of the viral video.
The tweet obviously caught the attention of the 64-year-old Luke Skywalker actor, who responded to White's query. "TOTAL BS! Actually said "There she..." as in 'There she is.' Dialogue in that scene was dubbed. In-jokes disallowed!" Hamill replied.
A surge of fans jumped into the tweeting bandwagon after this clarification.
"Thank you for setting everyone straight on that! I never heard the word "Carrie" in that scene either," Neal FM said.
"No matter what was said Luke was awsome, if was Anakin, (Hayden) I'm sure it woulda been all whiney and emo," posted Jerry Dandrige.
Other fans remained their usual trolling selves, despite the elucidation — but then again what fun would the Twitterverse be without them?
"I've always heard "hairy" thinking Chewy was behind them," Matt Dalton replied.
"The force doesn't work on twitter..nice try though..these are not the droids you're looking for..move along!" said Kelly Nicholson.
Either way, this only goes to show how much technology has pervaded the way people interact with each other. And if it can debunk years-old Star Wars myth, there' pretty nothing that the Internet can't do.
