At the end of every New York Mets' playoff game, fans flocking to comedian Jim Breuer's Facebook page for a Mets' game video recap has become a ritual, generating thousands of likes and shares and hundreds of comments.
Breuer might be garnering extra attention for his video recaps on Facebook now that the Mets are embroiled in an intense National League Division Series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but the actor/comedian's summaries aren't anything new.
In fact, the Half Baked star has been offering his witty — and many times, downright hilarious — Mets' game video recaps this whole season.
Still, with the Mets in competition in October, perhaps the viral spotlight is shining on Breuer's Facebook page like never before. Also, it helps that this Mets-Dodgers' series has given the comedian plenty of talking points to touch on.
For example, when Dodgers' Chase Utley slid into Ruben Tejada in Game 2 — breaking the Mets shortstop's leg — on Saturday night, Breuer dubbed it a "horrible call" and said Utley was a "pig!"
When one of Breuer's Facebook friends commented that Utley's slide was clean and within the rules of the game, the comedian proceeded to dismantle his thinking with a vicious reply.
However, when the Mets turned around and scored a 13-7 victory over the Dodgers in Game 3 of the series Monday night, Breuer, who was live in attendance at Citi Field, proclaimed: "The best way to get revenge for what happened to Ruben Tejada is to beat down L.A...and we beat down L.A.!"
Breuer did that before leading faithful fans, like himself, with chants of "Let's go Mets!"
As this series goes on, Breuer's recaps are almost too good to miss.
