ZTE is expanding its Axon line-up of smartphones and poised to release the sibling of the Axon Mini – the Axon Max.
On Monday, Oct. 12, during the launch of its Axon Mini smartphone, the China-based OEM spilled the beans on the impending arrival of the Axon Max, a bigger smartphone from the company.
While ZTE did not divulge too many details on the device, it lets on that it will be introducing "a larger-screen smartphone device with a bigger battery" in the near term. The phablet will hit the shelves in 2015 itself, possibly in time for the holiday season.
According to a report, the Axon Max will have the same signature aluminum-titanium alloy material used by other smartphones in the Axon line-up. This material is Boeing 787 grade and gives an idea of how robust it will be.
It is also estimated that like the Axon Mini, the upcoming Axon Max from ZTE will also house a fingerprint sensor. The phablet will likely have the eye scanner, Hi-Fi sound tech and dual mic. It is also believed that the Axon Max will have a similar design sensibility to that of its siblings.
It is rumored that the Axon Max will sport a 6-inch QHD screen with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone will possibly house the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The device will also have Adreno 430 GPU.
The ZTE Axon Max is also anticipated to have a 13 MP primary camera and a powerful 3,000mAh battery. The handset will possibly have 32 GB of on-board storage, which may get bumped up to 64 GB.
It is not known if the ZTE Axon Max will also include the JBL E13 in-ear headphones. The price and color options of the smartphone are also veiled in mystery.
With ZTE poised to release the Axon Max soon, the company's presence in the smartphone space will get a boost.
