Facebook Rolls Out 3D Touch Support: What Can You Do With The New Feature?

If you're among the lucky few who have snagged the latest iPhone 6s or the iPhone 6s Plus smartphone from Apple, and also happen to be an avid Facebook user, then you'll be pleased to learn that Facebook has pushed out support for 3D Touch.

On Monday, Oct. 12, Facebook pushed out the update to its app for iOS and now iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users who have the latest iOS 9 version can use the 3D Touch tool on the social networking site as well.

So what can one do with the support for the 3D Touch feature on Facebook? Interact faster on the social media site for starters. Pressing the app's icon on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus will open the Quick Action menu, which will enable you to do the following:

1. Upload an image or video to Facebook

2. Capture an image or video and share it on Facebook

3. Write a post/status update

With the last option one can even post check-ins. Interestingly, Quick Actions offers support for four alternatives and a possibility exists that Facebook is working on a fourth context-based feature support - possibly for Live Photos (Apple has suggested that Live Photo support is in the works).

The 3D Touch feature gives users faster access to apps and is sort of like a shortcut for mobile apps. The tool also enables iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users to Peek and Pop; however, this is not available on the updated Facebook app.

Facebook is not the first to offer support for the 3D Touch tool. Recently, we reported that Facebook-owned Instagram had also imbibed support for the feature. Other popular apps which are offering support for 3D Touch include Twitter, Dropbox, Evernote, Pinterest, Shazam, OpenTable and more.

The updated Facebook app for iOS is version 41.0 and it weighs 99.4MB. To download the updated app and take advantage of the 3D Touch tool, click this link.
