Cloud Imperium Games, developer of the biggest crowdfunded space simulation game Star Citizen, has announced the names of A-list stars who are lending their voices to the characters in the game's single-player component Squadron 42 during its CitizenCon on Oct. 10.
The all-star cast includes Gary Oldman, also known for his role as Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films, who voiced Admiral Ernst Bishop. He is joined by Mark Hamill, the one and only Luke Skywalker, Gillian Andersen, who returned to her role in the X-Files reboot as the skeptic Agent Dana Scully, Andy Serkis whose precious roles include Gollum and the smart chimpanzee Caesar, John Rhys Davies who played Gimli son of Gloin, and Mark Strong who played Franc D'Amico in both film and game versions of "Kick-Ass," among many others.
You can check out the full list of voice actors in the "Squadron 42" page.
Have a short teaser straight from the Admiral's mouth as he speaks before the Senate while the game is still in development.
Star Citizen is a massive space simulation game that is built module by module with a goal to have a massive multi-player persistent universe and single-player campaign, flight and first-person shooting and infantry combat. Squadron 42 is just a single portion of that, more specifically, the single-player campaign portion which is set for release in 2016.
Concerns over the organizational changes in the studio were quelled in the Monthly Studio Report released on Oct. 10 citing that changes in the organization were necessary to increase productivity and further strengthen each team's area of expertise.
Although still in development, Star Citizen is already known as the most backed crowdfunding project and, as of Oct. 12, the Star Citizen Live Stats show that it has amassed $92.4 Million for its further development.
