Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice managed to pull off a plot twist even before its release by announcing that Jesse Eisenberg will not be playing Lex Luthor.
Eisenberg, will, however, play Luthor's son, Alexander Luthor Jr. His character, Lex, is described as a "jeans-wearing genius" and "baby-faced billionaire." This role is a great chance for the 32-year-old actor to channel his inner Mark Zuckerberg, whose character he also played in David Fincher's The Social Network.
The fictional character took to Twitter to share the announcement.
"Looking forward to reading about #LexCorp. Father would be proud," he posted, and shared a link of the interview where the announcement was made.
A fictitious interview with the character discloses how it was Alexander Luthor, Sr. who founded the international conglomerate company LexCorp.
"Dad named the company after himself 10 years before I made my unexpected entrance into his life. But investors seemed to respond to the idea of an adoring father building a legacy for his precious son. He used that to his advantage. It was a good shtick and, whatever else he was, he was a good businessman," Lex says about his father.
While considered one of the US' top success stories, Luthor Sr. hails from a war-torn country where the government has complete control over its subjects. That Lex acquired this conviction from his father is a strong possibility, and not to mention an interesting plot point.
Lex remains confident that LexCorp's military connection are sufficient to keep them on top of competition. He also reveals that the company is working on a certain technological product that is meant to aid U.S. defense.
Of course, the specifications of this "product" will be divulged when Batman v Superman comes out in March 2016.
