Lovers of supernatural-themed series can rejoice once again with the production of Robert Kirkman's Outcast. The Outcast panel premiered the first trailer of the series at the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) back in July and Cinemax revealed a longer trailer during its panel on Oct. 10 at the New York Comic Con (NYCC). Kirkman is definitely enjoying the attention his creations are getting just as much as the fans look forward to seeing the illustrated characters on the small screen.
The second trailer intensifies the aura of mystery present in the first trailer but it also acquaints the spectators a little more with the central character, Kyle Barnes, played by Patrick Fugit. You can watch the trailer shown.
For those who aren't familiar with the Outcast comics, the story revolves around Barnes who has witnessed multiple demonic possessions throughout his life, including that of his mother who was abusive towards him. In order to protect his loved ones, Kyle decided to isolate himself. However, in order to regain a normal life that was deprived of him as he was growing up, he goes on a mission to seek answers.
Kyle teams up with Reverend Anderson, played by Philip Glenister, who considers himself a soldier in God's Holy war. One of the first people they encounter is Joshua Austin, played by Gabriel Bateman, an eight-year-old boy suffering from an unusual demonic possession which is somehow connected to Kyle. The discoveries that Kyle makes in his journey could trigger a huge change both in his life and the world.
Fans of Kirkman's other televised series The Walking Dead and its spinoff Fear the Walking Dead would know that Kirkman deviates from the story in his comic books and it might just be the same for Outcast.
Outcast is expected to premiere on Cinemax in 2016 with a pilot episode directed by Adam Wingard.
