Advancements in technology can really help us humans, but it's certainly not limited to us. Animals can really benefit from technology, too.
Take Cassidy the kitten, for example, who was born without both hind legs and left for dead in a forest until he was found and sent to an animal shelter in Vancouver. After being nursed back to health, two students from Walnut Grove Secondary School decided to help in their own way.
The students, Josh Messmer and Isaiah Walker, essentially used a Makerbot to 3D-print two hind wheels for the kitten, allowing Cassidy to move around on his own. After a few prototypes, everything was set and the wheels were a comfortable size for Cassidy.
Not only does the tiny wheelchair allow Cassidy to move around, but the frame can also be adjusted to grow as the kitten grows. Now, Cassidy can go out and play with the other kittens, something that would have previously been impossible.
