For over 50 years, Uncanny X-Men has defined Marvel Comics. And now, with issue #600, it's all coming to an end.
From the get-go, it's easy to see that Marvel isn't treating this book like just another finale. After all, Uncanny X-Men is the publisher's longest-running series ever (even if it wasn't always called Uncanny). Obviously, Marvel isn't just going to brush the series aside to make way for some new monthly book.
As a result, Uncanny X-Men #600 has what could be one of the greatest creative teams in recent memory: the book is being written by none other than Brian Michael Bendis, with art from Chris Bachalo, Kris Anka, David Marquez and more. It's a huge team, that much is obvious — but it makes sense for such a big event.
With just a month left before the series comes to a close, Marvel has released a bite-sized preview of what's to come. There's not much in terms of new narrative info (as to be expected), but what few pages are shown seem to hint a more somber ending than some might expect:
At this point, one thing is certain: Marvel's not kidding around when they call issue #600 "the end of an era."
Uncanny X-Men #600 will be available on November 4.
