At long last, the Eisner Award-winning Lumberjanes chronicles (specifically, issues #5 through #8) of the Roanoke Cabin girls at Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp For Hardcore Lady Types have been rounded up into a second, single collection — Lumberjanes Vol. 2: Friendship to the Max! will be published next week. As Jo, April, Mal, Molly and Ripley of Roanoke Cabin would say, "Oh my Bessie Coleman!"
Published by BOOM! Studios imprint BOOM! Box and created by writers Grace Ellis, Shannon Watters, Noelle Stevenson, and artist Brooke A. Allen, Lumberjanes Vol. 2 follows the five best friends as they continue to vie for their Lumberjanes badges while dodging dinosaurs, yetis who behave like hipsters, ruthless Greek gods, and, of course, the ocassional jackalope. It's definitely a summer that the campers and their uptight-but-lovable counselor Jen will never forget.
The publication of the collection is also a final homage to Stevenson's run on the series. The author of Nimona and writer for The Runaways and Marvel's Thor recently left the original Lumberjanes team to pursue other projects (though Stevenson's run ended with issue #17, issue #18 only came out a few weeks ago, so the loss is still fresh).
Lumberjanes Vol. 2: Friendship to the Max! will be available to purchase on Tuesday, October 13.
