Another day, another Destiny secret discovered. This time, players were baffled and confounded by a a large secret room in Destiny: The Taken King's newest raid, King's Fall.
It took a bit of fiddling around to help recreate the conditions that led the original poster to find the secret room – he admitted that he stumbled upon it by accident and could not remember how the heck he ended up there – but through dedication and the effort of the entire Destiny online community, the way to access the mysterious secret room was found again.
But the empty room found in the hive still had players on their feet and keyboards, trying to guess at what other hidden secrets the room could be hiding. Could it be a sidequest? Secret power-ups? An exotic weapon? Endless bounties of loot and power-ups? Has the key to unlocking the Sleeper Simulant quest been here all along?
Theories abounded but the game's creative director, Luke Smith, quickly put it all to rest with one swift and final tweet.
So, it's just a basketball court. Well played, team Bungie. Just in time for NBA season too.
Still, Oryx's Basketball Court is a pretty sweet spot to lay low in the game. You can even sort of play a game of hoops, a la "Space Jam," by dunking a relic into a statue on the court to activate runes around it. Once all six runes are lit up, the party gets rewarded with an Overcharge buff.
To access Oryx's Basketball Court is no easy feat in itself. First, players need to get to the part of the raid with the so-called Super Mario Bros.-like platforming sections and hit a few semi-hidden switches in a specific pattern which differ depending on the platform you are playing on.
Hitting the correct pattern will open up a secret door all the way on the other side of the platform, over the gap. To get there, players have to stand in front of a piston at the entrance which has been activated by hitting the proper switches. Players then get propelled across the gap and into the secret room.

Looks like this discovery was just a fun little Easter egg from the guys at Bungie, but the hunt is still on for all of Destiny's other secrets as well as that elusive Sleeper Simulant.
