Star Wars: Episodes I, II and III were about the fall of Anakin Skywalker.
Episodes IV, V and VI were about the rise of his son, Luke Skywalker.
According to a hint just dropped by Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy, Episodes VII, VIII and IX are about the next Skywalker.
"The saga films focus on the Skywalker family," Kennedy told the Costco Connection, a magazine for club members of the warehouse retailer. (Credit where it's due: the magazine article was first noticed by Newsarama.) In using the term "saga," she was referring to the numbered films — as opposed to the anthology films, which tell stories of other people and places in the Star Wars universe. In case this hint wasn't strong enough, she followed it with a statement that sent it straight home.
"The stories follow our linear narrative that connects to the previous six films. The Force Awakens follows Return of the Jedi and continues that generational story."
In other words, Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues the generational story of the Skywalker family tree, which can only mean that new members of that family will be introduced. Put more simply: one or more of the younger generation of the movie's stars is a Skywalker.
Is this a bombshell? Not really. We already assumed either John Boyega's Finn or Daisy Ridley's Rey would be a member of the Skywalker family, or by extension, the Solo family. But it's nice to have that suspicion confirmed.
There are other cast members young enough to fit the bill, too, like that fellow above — Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. We know he's obsessed with Darth Vader — could it be because ol' Sithy was his grandpa? And what about Domnhall Gleeson's young General Hux of the First Order? Could he be someone's wayward son? Of course, it's just as likely any of these folks could be a Solo, as well.
Thoughts? Finn Skywalker? Rey Solo? Kylo Skywalker?
