Battlefield 4 has been out for two years now, but that isn't stopping EA and developer DICE from bringing some new content to their popular multiplayer shooter.
DICE has been working with the Battlefield community to craft a new series of multiplayer maps for players to enjoy as part of what is being called "Community Operations." A trailer has been released for the first map to come out of this partnership, and it looks like fans have plenty to look forward to.
Called Operation Outbreak, the new map takes place is a lush jungle. Below is the official map description from EA:
"Enter the dense jungle to battle for supremacy in a valley with a medical research facility, an ancient temple, and a lush waterfall. The valley is infantry-focused with limited access, making the use of agile vehicles (such as RHIB's on the river, quad bikes for fast transportation, and light attack vehicles) critical for success."
It was developed alongside the game's community, with players providing feedback, suggestions and voting on map features that DICE inserted into the game. Perhaps it is for that reason the map doesn't resemble anything players have seen in Battlefield 4 before. You can check out a trailer for the map below.
Better yet, this map is just the first look at a batch of free content for Battlefield 4 players coming later this fall. No word yet on how many maps will be included, but even getting one free map for a two-year-old game is exciting for dedicated players. DICE also released the Night Operations pack free of charge alongside a number of gameplay tweaks and bug fixes back at the start of Sept. You can read about that here.
DICE's next game will come in the form of Star Wars Battlefront on Nov. 17. You'll be able to download the open beta for the game on Oct. 6 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC through EA's Origin service.
