3 year old Victoria Wilcher was attacked by pit bulls owned by her grandfather earlier this year and as a result suffered from broken nose, cheek bones and jaw. She also lost her right eye and the ability to move one side of her face.
The incident has likewise left the girl with ugly scars in her face, which stirred an incident at a KFC restaurant. As per Victoria's grandmother, Kelly Mullins, she brought Victoria to a Jackson KFC after an appointment with a doctor but an employee approached them and told them to leave because the girl's scarred face is disrupting customers.
Victoria, who was not self-conscious before the incident, cried all the way home and since then became embarrassed with the way she looks. Mullins related that the girl no longer wants to get out of the car when they go to a store.
Victoria, however, may get a chance to revive her self-confidence now that a doctor from Las-Vegas has offered free surgery for her. Following the incident, Mullins shared the fast food bullying on Facebook, which eventually became viral. Frank Stile, a Las Vegas plastic surgeon, who learned of Victoria's story, was affected by what the girl experienced he decided to reach out to Victoria's family and offer his help.
On June 17, Stile, who is also the founder of the non-profit The Frank L. Stile Foundation, which provides support to children in crisis, said that he intends to provide his help to Victoria and her family.
"My Foundation will work out sponsorship to help defray the costs of her care," Stile wrote. "I know this will not erase the memories of the horrific experiences Victoria has had to endure, but we can at least hope to make her future care more pleasant while trying to restore her back to a beautiful well-adjusted little girl."
On Saturday, the plastic surgeon, who specializes in scars, met Victoria to personally evaluate her. Stile, however, said that the recovery will not happen overnight and will be gradual process. "This is definitely not going to be a one-shot deal," Stile said [video]. "This is going to be something that is going to be gradual and over the course of several years, possibly, and into her early adulthood."
Meanwhile, KFC said in a statement that it has hired a third party consultant to investigate the reported bullying of Victoria in one of its restaurants. It has likewise pledged to donate $30,000 for the girl regardless of the results of the investigation.
