The Just Cause series has been one of the most consistently excellent franchises in gaming over the last several years. While some may argue that the first game hasn't aged all that well, the second game is an open-world masterpiece: even now, five years later, nothing comes close to matching Just Cause 2's insane, explosive chaos.
Then again, that may change: Just Cause 3 is just a few months away from release, and it's already looking like one of the most destructive open-world games ever made. True, it may not carry the same name recognition as something like Call of Duty or Halo — but even so, Just Cause 3 is already looking like one of the biggest games of 2015.
With launch day rapidly approaching, fans are finally getting to see more and more of the game — and that doesn't stop at gameplay. As part of the team's developer diary, Avalanche Studios is now giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a game as absolutely massive as Just Cause 3:
You know, considering that Avalanche Studios focuses more on explosions and destruction than just about anyone else, it's a relatively calm, collected place.
Even if the team is a bit more reserved than one might assume, it's clear that everyone at Avalanche Studios is dedicated to creating something huge. Every little piece of the game – the environments, the wingsuit, the explosions – has been carefully crafted to match the chaotic world of Just Cause 3. It's an attention to detail that's rarely seen in other games — hopefully, all that work pays off in the long run.
If you want to get your hands on Avalanche Studios' other games before Just Cause 3 hits, you can grab Just Cause 2 on Steam or Mad Max on just about everything else.
Just Cause 3 is set to hit store shelves on December 1.
