'Captain Planet' Recreated In 'Grand Theft Auto V' Is Offensive And Insane (In A Good Way)

Captain Planet is a kid's show with a positive message about protecting the planet and the environment.

This Grand Theft Auto V recreation of the show's intro is not. If you grew up in the late 80s or early 90s, you likely know the Captain Planet intro by heart, but this video will still surprise you. Perhaps that shouldn't come as a surprise considering the video comes from Merfish, the same mad man responsible for the still hilarious (and a little disturbing) Pokemon recreated in GTA V video from around a month ago.

Merfish has recreated the Captain Planet intro shot-for-shot in GTA V, but with some twists of course. Each Planeteer is reimagined here, and for the most part they are spot on.

Until we get to Gi. In the cartoon Gi is Asian and is from Thailand. In Merfish's version of GTA V, Gi is an old, red-haired woman. Playing the part of Ma-Ti is Lester, a far cry from the young boy and his monkey friend that can be seen in the original intro. Adding to the overall weirdness of this short is that the Planeteers flip people the bird in order to use their elemental ring powers, often with hilarious results.

But that all fails in comparison to the finale of the intro, in which Captain Planet (or in this case, a blue and red painted Trevor from GTA V) emerges from a mountaintop and begins to soar around Los Santos. You can check out the whole video below.

It's all profoundly dumb, but that's why it's great. Keep up the good work Merfish. We've come to expect great things from you.
