Boxing press conferences can be animated at times.
Boxer Tyson Fury made his best attempt to ensure that the London press conference for his October 24 world heavyweight championship bout with Wladimir Klitschko will be remembered for a long time to come. That's because Fury stormed into the Wednesday conference dressed as Batman. Yes, the Dark Knight.
But wait... it gets better. Within seconds, a staged Joker emerged with Tyson declaring, "This is a fool, just like you are," pointing in Klitschko's direction.
The superhero and the villain rolled around in front of the podium with an unamused Klitschko looking on. Eventually Batman got the best of Joker and defeated him, setting his sights on the heavyweight champion. The only thing their battle was missing was the "Boom!" or "Pow!" comic bubbles from the old-school show.
As laughter died down from members of the press, Fury re-emerged wearing a suit and finally getting serious. Although the press conference instantly went viral and is pure entertainment, defeating Klitschko – who hasn't lost in 11 years – is anything but a laughing matter.
Fury (24-0), despite standing 6'9 and weighing over 250 pounds, might really need to be a superhero to get the job done in a month.
Those familiar with Fury know that the 27-year-old enjoys keeping the entertainment value high, even arriving at the ring singing an Elvis Presley tune back in February.
If he came to a press conference dressed as Batman, just imagine how he'll walk out to the ring in what's sure to be the biggest fight of his career.
