The team at CyanogenMod announced it has extended support to include midrange devices.
According to the CyanogenMod team's blog post, the free, community-built distribution of Android which extends the capabilities of devices, now supports a number of devices from familiar names such as Huawei, Motorola, Xiaomi, Oppo, Samsung, HTC and LG. The post also mentions added support to lesser known names such as WileyFox and Smartfren.
"Over the past few months, device maintainers new and old have been pushing hard to get support up to par for a wide range of devices," wrote ciwrl in the CyanogenMod's official blog site.
Specifically, the team identified at least four devices from Huawei which recently earned support. These include Honor 4 and 4x (cherry), Snapto (g620_a2) and Ascend Mate 2 (mt2). These are the first set of devices from Huawei which have earned CyanogenMod support since CM 7.
As for the devices from Motorola, the team named at least two, the Moto E 2015 (otus) and the Moto G 2015 (osprey).
The team also thanked Oppo for its device donations, which played a huge part in allowing CyanogenMod to extend its support.
"We are working on their latest R7, R7Plus, and R5Plus devices, thanks in large part to their device donations."
Other newly supported devices the Samsung S5 Duos and Galaxy S5 (both Japan and China variants), the HTC One M8 Dual SIM, the LG G3 (Korean variant) and the Xiaomi Mi3w and Mi4.
Smartfren's AndroMax Q is an Indonesian device which is also included in the list. The team described it as "being the only CDMA Cyanogen, Inc. device."
WileyFox is the newest OEM to be added to the list, with its devices Storm and Swift receiving support.
The CyanogenMod team also promised to include more devices in the near future, including the Nvidia Shield tablet, which is "in the wings." Owners of the above-mentioned devices should be able to start seeing CyanogenMod ROMs available for download.
