15-Year-Old Spider-Man Is Genius Move By Marvel

Not too long ago, it was revealed that Tom Holland's take on Spider-Man will be a 15-year-old who is still in high school. This is coinciding with the rumors that claim the new story will take place with a young Spider-Man in high school.

The question is, will this work out well for Marvel, considering the fact that the actor is 19 years old?

It wouldn't be the first time an older actor has played a character who is younger. Take Andrew Garfield, for instance, a man who was in his 30s when he played a 20-something Spider-Man, and arguably, he pulled it off very well.

Because of this, a 15-year-old Spider-Man should work out very well for Marvel.

We also have to say that going with such a young Spider-Man is genius on the part of Marvel Studios. This version of the character should gravitate a lot more toward teenagers and the whole family, more so than with an older version of the character.

Should the studio play its cards well, then the rebooted Spider-Man movie by itself could be another billion-dollar earner for Disney quite quickly. The Spider-Man brand, despite the butchering it faced under the helm of Sony Pictures, is still strong in the eyes of moviegoers, so it shouldn't be too hard for Marvel to walk away with a win here.

Then again, we have to point out that there has never been a movie about a teenage Spider-Man before, and already, some fans are complaining because they would rather see an older version of the character. These fans fear the new movie might be too directed toward teenagers and might eventually turn out to be a mellow teen drama similar to The Hunger Games.

We do not believe this is going to be the case, but anything is possible when companies want to make some big bucks.

Expect to see Tom Holland for the first time as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and his solo film in 2017.
