The "Twitch Plays" phenomenon is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. First it was Pokemon. Then it was more Pokemon. Then Halo. After a number of other games, Twitch decided it would play one of the most infamously difficult video games of all time: Dark Souls.
Surely this is where the madness would end, but Twitch proved that even Dark Souls didn't stand a chance against their collective gaming might by defeating several of the game's bosses. Now players have moved onto yet another game, but this one just might be the most difficult one of all.
That game is none other than Fallout 3. Confused? Don't worry, we are too. Fallout 3 isn't exactly easy, but it's not on the same level of bone-crushing difficulty that Dark Souls is. It's a little baffling to see then that Twitch has thus far been unable to move outside of the game's opening moments. Their character is currently doing one of two things: running into a wall or staring at their character stat screen via the in-game Pip-Boy.
Running into walls is the nature of Twitch Plays, after all. Because so many players are all inputting commands at the same time, it is often very difficult to actually achieve any meaningful progress. It's for that reason that many Twitch Plays now incorporate a voting system, in which players can vote for what actions to take. The action that receives the most votes is what their onscreen character will do, but it's a slow, painful process. After all, the only reason Twitch was able to defeat bosses in Dark Souls was thanks to an added ability to pause the game, giving players time to vote on their actions and avoid certain death.
If Twitch can actually get out of the Vault they currently find themselves in they shouldn't find the game's combat system too difficult. According to how many action points their character has, they will be able to pause combat using the game's V.A.T.S. system and take aim at specific spots on enemies. Curing themselves of rad-poisoning? That's going to be an entirely different ballgame. You can check out the livestream below.
