Best Buy has an attractive deal in place for the current-generation 15" Retina MacBook Pro, dropping its price from $1,999 to $1,699.
This marks a notable discount of $300 off the regular price tag for this MacBook Pro model, but interested customers might want to hurry if they want to take advantage of this offer. This offer might expire any time today, Sept. 21.
The discounted model in question is the 15.4-inch Retina MacBook Pro released back in May 2015, with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 16GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage.
Compared to its predecessor, the current-generation 15" Retina MacBook Pro boasts faster flash storage, better graphics, a longer battery life and the much-touted Force Touch technology, just like its 13-inch sibling.
Apple released its latest 15-inch MacBook Pro in two configurations, both with quad-core Intel Core i7 processors, 16GB of RAM and Intel Iris Pro Graphics, but one model runs at 2.2GHz and the other goes up to 2.5GHz. The 2.2GHz model normally costs $1,999, while the higher-end 2.5GHz variant, which also boasts 512GB of flash storage, retails for $2,499. Best Buy is discounting the price of the 2.2GHz model only, offering this version for $300 less at $1,699, but the 2.5GHz version retains its regular price tag.
It's worth pointing out that the current-generation 15-inch MacBook Pro still comes with fourth-generation Intel Haswell processors, not Broadwell. Apple is expected to refresh the MacBook Pro lineup with Skylake processors in the future, likely in 2016.
Even with Haswell processors under the hood, however, the current-generation MacBook Pro models gained positive reviews and sparked plenty of interest among consumers.
The latest price cut Best Buy applied to the 2.2GHz version of the 15.4-inch Retina MacBook Pro (2015) marks the biggest discount ever for the current-generation MacBook Pro and will likely attract even more customers.
Keep in mind that Best Buy's Deal of the Day promotions are typically quite popular and the retailer may run out of available stock in no time. For now, Best Buy lists the $1,699 Retina MacBook Pro 15" as in stock, but with limited quantities available. This offer expires in a few hours. Separately, Best Buy also cut the price of other select MacBook models, allowing for significant savings.
