Pebble may be up for an important announcement but feels that it has to wait just yet before finally revealing what it has in mind.
Such notion was created as a result of a mysterious countdown that can now be seen on the company's official site. Based on the displayed timer, the countdown is scheduled to end on Sept. 23.
While there are no hints whatsoever on what customers can expect when the countdown ends, it is highly unlikely that the company will be announcing a new smartwatch.
Pebble even talked about the countdown over a post in Twitter and ended it with a link to their site.
"Tick, tock, tick, tock. Today we see a countdown clock. What's it for? Time to start guessing...pebble.com," said Pebble on its tweet.
It should be remembered that the last time the company placed a countdown timer on its site was that time when it was preparing to announce Pebble Time. The latter is being touted to have a battery life that lasts up to seven days. It also works with both devices from Android and iOS. It's even water resistant and can tolerate being under the water by up to 30 meters or 98 feet. However, it is highly unlikely that the company is announcing a new hardware soon. Another speculation is that Pebble may be preparing to release new straps or smart straps. Pebble Time is currently made with 22 millimeter Silicone watch band that is designed with quick release pins, allowing the user to easily change and customize his smartwatch with 3rd party bands. Then again, if it's not hardware, Pebble may be just up for an announcement on a software update. Rumors are saying that Pebble will be releasing their big 3.0 software update which promises to bring a number of new settings such as the ability to tweak vibration intensity, backlight and font sizes. There's also the notion that the update will bring in a new notification experience to the user. "Count down to Sep 23rd from your Pebble with the watchface we whipped up!," said Pebble in a separate tweet
Pebble Time users can actually choose from thousands of custom watchfaces which are all available in the Pebble appstore. Interestingly, the company had also came up with a watchface to match the rumored countdown.
Pebble hinted in the past that the update is scheduled to hit the original Pebble this year. While there is no mention of a specific date, the appearance of a countdown timer on their site may just be able to give light on the matter.
