Motorola's marketing strategy was to release three phones models at the same time, in an attempt to have a foothold in all the market segments. As such, the Moto E is a basic entry-level device, the Moto G is an average-priced smartphone that attracts most buyers and the Moto X is the flagship of the Lenovo-owned company.
The appeal of Moto X consists a positive general experience, some exclusive Motorola functions and the unrivaled level of customization of its hardware. However, Moto G is more customizable this year due to Motorola's Moto Maker program. Additionally, it comes in two forms instead of one; the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style were launched, but only the latter arrived in the U.S. under the name of Moto X Pure.
The aesthetical customization includes multiple choices of finishes: wood and leather options are available, alongside one of the many colorful high-quality silicone covers. Metallic accents here and there are also in the list of options.
Users who wanted more customizations for their smartphones had the opportunity to get them on the official Motorola webpage, but some just wanted to get the phone faster and retailers offered just that. Best Buy is one of those resellers and has an offer that is hard to refuse: the Moto X Pure with the front in white and black paired with backs to match, plus the option of a white front and a bamboo back. The phones drew a lot of attention and today the majority of the models are sold out, the one exception being the black 16GB version, costing $399.99.
Two possibilities take shape: either the Motorola flagship is faring better than any of its former versions or Best Buy received a small batch of phones.
The value for money of the Moto X Pure could justify the first answer, since it offers a capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM, a 5.7-inch display featuring QHD resolution and a powerful 20.7-megapixel camera at a very competitive price. Additional positives are that the smartphone comes unlocked and unbranded and receives updates faster than most models.
