For a lot of people, one of the biggest reasons to keep coming back to Destiny are the Raids: the long, exceedingly difficult dungeons are home to the game's toughest enemies and best loot. Most fans will tell you that the various Raids are actually the best part of the game: forget traditional mutliplayer or story campaigns, the Raids are the real reason to play.
So, when Bungie announced that The Taken King, the game's third major expansion, would launch without a proper Raid, fans were understandably upset. What's worse is that, from the fans' point of view, Bungie made it seem as if the Raid wouldn't launch for some time after The Taken King's release - as it turns out, that's just not the case.
Earlier today, Bungie announced that Destiny's latest Raid, 'King's Fall,' will launch on Sept. 18 - basically, fans have less than 24 hours to get ready for The Taken King's biggest challenge yet. Surprise!
As per the usual, Bungie has released next to nothing in terms of details: Destiny's Raids are all about friends and players coming together to solve a puzzle and beat a ridiculously tough boss, and as a result, pre-launch information is almost non-existent. Bungie did confirm that King's Fall will launch at 10am PST/1pm EST - expect to receive a notification to update the game sometime around then.
In all honesty, it's a smart move on Bungie's part: the studio basically ensured that all anyone will be talking about this weekend (when it comes to gaming, at least) is the new Raid. Considering how well The Taken King has been received so far, it's smart for Bungie to keep that momentum rolling - let's just hope that King's Fall is as good as the rest of the expansion.
Destiny: The Taken King is available now, and the King's Fall Raid will go live tomorrow at 10am PST/1pm EST.
