Leave it to South Park to put national news stories into perspective ... especially scandals.
Kicking off its 19th season Wednesday, Sept. 16, the merciless animated series didn't hesitate giving its hilarious take on the New England Patriots' Deflategate scandal, equipped with animated versions of four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady, his coach Bill Belichick and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The sequence, which runs just over 30 seconds, has an injured, bedridden Cartman dozing off into a Deflategate nightmare, in which Brady and Goodell go back and forth, alleging that the other broke the rules.
"I may be down, but I'm not out. Tom Brady's never out," the animated version of the QB says to begin the mocking sequence.
"You broke the rules," Goodell says, standing behind a podium.
"F*** you, I broke the rules ... you're breaking the rules!" Brady fires back.
He gets help from Belichick, who also points the finger at Goodell.
The two sides continue to shift blame onto each other, before Brady hilariously exclaims, "You broke the rules how you found out I broke the rules" and "just because you didn't bust us enough for breaking the rules doesn't mean you can break the rules busting us now."
Brady and Goodell each continue trying to assert their power in the obscenity-laced exchange, which pretty much sums up how the actual Deflategate scandal ensued with the commissioner originally suspending the quarterback for four games and denying his appeal, before he defeated Goodell and the NFL in court.
This is almost too good .. .not to mention, fairly accurate.
