The #IStandWithAhmed has taken Twitter by storm as support continues to pour out for Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old teenager from Texas who was wrongfully arrested by the police after his homemade clock invention was mistaken for a threatening device.
Ahmed brought the clock to school to show teachers his passion for creating electronic devices. However, a teacher confiscated the device, insisting that it was a bomb despite the boy's explanations.
The teenager was later placed in handcuffs and escorted out of school by the police for interrogation at the local police department.
Ahmed has since been cleared of charges, but understandably, the boy is looking to transfer to another school following the harrowing experience.
What Ahmed went through, however, was documented in social media, beginning with his image of being in handcuffs while wearing a NASA shirt that elicited the initial online outcry against his wrongful arrest.
One of his supporters was President Barack Obama, who even invited Ahmed to the annual Astronomy Night in October that brings together scientists, astronauts and other scientific professionals.
Ahmed has accepted the invitation, as the boy announced in a press conference. Big names in the tech industry and celebrities also showed their support for the 14-year-old inventor, with messages containing everything from applause to event invitations, and even internships.
There were even some that made fun of the fact that the police mistook a clock for a bomb.
Thankfully, it seems that the 14-year-old inventor is keeping his head held high despite the incident. Messages for Ahmed to keep doing what he loves best is supporting the teenager with his bright outlook in life, which is as bright as his future.
