Naughty Dog Accidentally Reveals ‘The Last Of Us 2’ Update

Naughty Dog, a subsidiary of Sony Computer Entertainment, hosted the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection live streaming event and people noticeably talked about The Last Sequel, Last of Us 2, video game updates rather than Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection thereafter.

The Uncharted live stream that aired on Sept. 13 featured staffs behind the game's development: Community Strategist Eric Monacelli, Lead Animator Eric Baldwin and Writer Josh Scherr. While they were discussing, the person in-charge of facial animation for the Uncharted titles, Scherr accidentally spilled the beans for The Last of Us 2, making all nod in excitement.

"All the facial animation for the entire series was led up by Eric here... and all the facial animations in the Uncharted games... and the first The Last of Us," said Scherr who didn't seem to be aware of what he said until a few moments later. He followed it by asking himself, "Did I say the first of Last of Us?"

"The first of the Last of Us.. uhh.. The Last of Us... The first Last of Us," he continued to mutter while Eric Baldwin was grinning like an older big brother that knows his little brother is in trouble for breaking something.

Note that the sequel is highly-anticipated due to the first title's multiple awards and the dramatic reviews it garnered. The Last of Us was first released, exclusively, for the PS3 in June 2014, and it was immediately remastered and ported to the PS4 in July of the same year. Upon release, the game was honored with 200 "Game of the Year" awards and took 10 more at the 17th Annual AIAS/DICE Awards.

The Last of Us DLC, The Last of Us: Left Behind, serving as a prequel to the main storyline, is one of the highest rated DLC packs in PlayStation history.

With the "accidental slip" taking the headlines, fans are now expecting to hear more news about The Last of Us 2 development later this year or early in 2016.
