Marvel's been doing some terrific work with the Star Wars license in books like Darth Vader, Kanan, Princess Leia and of course, Star Wars. Lando recently got his own solo series, and even C-3PO is getting a one-shot to explain his new red arm.
Next up is everybody's favorite Wookie, kicking off a five-part series with Chewbacca #1 in mid-October. The story picks up after the Battle of Yavin — the famous conflict against the original Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope, when Chewie crash-lands on a planet occupied by the Empire. Here's how Marvel's solicit describes it:
Following the Battle of Yavin, Chewbacca finds himself on his own and separated from the Rebel Alliance. Crash landing on an Imperial occupied planet, Chewie finds himself in the company of a young local girl in need. Together, they may just be enough to take on the forces invading her home and get Chewbacca back to the Rebellion.
There's plenty of story to mine between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, which is said to have been two years in Star Wars time. So it's nice to see Marvel continuing to piece together the tales that make up that lost time period.

Chewbacca #1, by writer Gerry Duggan and artist Phil Noto, hits stores on October 14.
