At this point, it may be the worst kept secret in television: Jon Snow is very likely still alive.
Rumor after rumor, theory after theory have all pointed to Kit Harington's character still being alive after his brutal "death" at the hands of his brothers-in-arms at the end of Game of Thrones season five.
This latest piece of evidence comes straight from the mouth of Harington himself. Speaking with Dutch magazine Humo (via a Reddit translation), this is what Harington had to say when asked how many more seasons he would be on the show:
"Nice try (laughs). I can't talk about that. Let's just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I'll probably be in my thirties when it's over. One thing's for sure: the day I'm no longer on Thrones is the day I'll bury myself in movie projects (laughs)."
Harington is currently 28 years old, which means if he is to still be on Game of Thrones into his thirties, we can expect Jon Snow to be around for at least two more seasons. That puts the number of seasons at eight, which is the same number HBO programming president Michael Lombardo cited earlier this year when asked how long the show will go on for. If the show does run for eight seasons, that means Harington and the rest of the cast could finally call it quits in 2018.
This, combined with recent sightings of the actor on what appears to be the set of a massive battle in season six, seems to confirm that Jon Snow is still alive. How exactly that can be is still up in the air. Does Jon die, only to be resurrected by Melisandre? Does he simply recover from his wounds?
We don't yet know the truth, but fans have a number of theories for how Eddard Stark's bastard son still has an important role to play in future events. You can read more about those (and a number of other fan theories that may come true) here.
