'Fantastic Four' Actress Kate Mara Hasn't Seen The Movie ...Yet

Fantastic Four is the biggest flop of the summer, financially and critically. The $122 million budget film currently sits on a 27 aggregate review score on Metacritic and to date has brought in a measly $55 million domestically.

Perhaps, then, it isn't surprising that one of the film's stars says she has yet to watch Josh Trank's superhero reboot. Kate Mara, who plays the Invisible Woman in the movie, told The Times the negative reviews for Fantastic Four have made her "a little bit gun-shy" when it comes to watching the movie herself. She does say, however, that she plans to watch it eventually.

When asked how it feels to be in a "truly awful film," Mara responded by saying that sometimes it just happens.

"You don't always have to learn some incredible life lesson when making a s*** movie," Mara says. "Sometimes it's just what happens."

According to IGN, Mara goes on to say she enjoyed her time filming the movie and that she found Trank's controversial tweet, in which he implied 20th Century Fox ruined his vision for the film, "highly disappointing."

In light of the controversies, poor critical reception and abysmal box office performance, chances of seeing a sequel to the movie aren't good. Even if writer and producer Simon Kinberg says he is continuing work on the sequel, Mara says she doesn't find the idea of another film likely.

"That's the thing that makes me most bummed because we have no idea if we'll ever make another one," she says.

What really happened behind the scenes of Fantastic Four may never be truly known. Was it Fox who sabotaged the film by cutting key action scenes and re-editing the movie, or was Trank simply not cut out for making a summer blockbuster? Maybe we will learn the truth one day.
