The upcoming HTC One A9 flagship, codenamed Aero, will apparently come rocking the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and HTC Sense 7 out of the box.
Rumors that a powerful new HTC Aero smartphone will launch this year as the One A9 have been making rounds for quite some time now and have only intensified as of late.
Just last week, the purported HTC One A9, or Aero, surfaced on Geekbench and revealed some of its potential specifications, including a deca-core Helio X20 processor.
More specifically, the recently-leaked benchmark shows the HTC One A9 with a 10-core ARM MT-6797 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.96 GHz and coupled with a hefty 4 GB of RAM. The benchmark also lists the HTC One A9 with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the software side, but it now seems that the final version of the smartphone could run the latest Android build.
In contrast with the benchmark, trusted tipster @LlabTooFeR now reveals that the HTC Aero will in fact run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and HTC Sense 7 when it launches. It's possible that the test version spotted on Geekbench ran Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but HTC plans to launch the smartphone with the latest Android version on board.
No other specs are currently available for the upcoming flagship, but previous reports hinted at a 5.5-inch display with either a full HD (1920 x 1080) or a WQHD (2560 x 1440) pixel resolution.
When it comes to the HTC One A9 release timeframe, things are not crystal clear either. While some previous rumors hinted at a late fall launch, others suggested that it may in fact debut only next year. LlabTooFeR offers a timeframe for the release as well.
Asked by a commenter whether the HTC One A9 will launch next year, LlabTooFeR revealed that the smartphone will arrive in October or November. Considering that HTC has an event scheduled for September 29, an October or November release for the purported One A9 sounds plausible. The company could unveil its new HTC One A9 on September 9 and then launch it commercially in a month or two.
It's all still in the rumor state at this point, however, so it's tough to tell for sure just what HTC has planned. LlabTooFeR has proved to be a reliable source on several occasions in the past, but it's still best to take all leaks with a grain of salt until formal confirmation.
