Most people know Friends as a beloved, lighthearted sitcom. But apparently, if you edit together some creepy clips from the show out of context and put a black-and-white filter over them, it's a lot scarier than you might think.
Don't believe me? Well, just check out this parody trailer from WorldWideInterweb that reimagines Friends as a horror movie with the most cut-and-dry name ever, Dead Friends.
In the clip, the things that we once found funny about these characters – from Ross' neuroses to Joey's bulging eyes to Phoebe's screams – suddenly take on a whole new, more sinister meaning. When you put these clips together, Ross really does seem like a madman. Seriously, how did we not notice this before?
But what really sets the tone of this parody trailer is some of its subtler touches. The iconic Friends opening at what's supposed to be a fountain in Central Park gets a macabre makeover with the water suddenly disappearing and the lights going out. A warped version of the famous Friends theme song "I'll Be There For You" also helps give this trailer a nightmarish quality. It's enough to make you not want any of these friends to be there for you.
Check out the full trailer below, which might just make you lay off of watching those Friends reruns for a while. OK, maybe not. But it is guaranteed to give you the creeps.
