Jolla Releases Sailfish 2.0 For Early Access Users: Update Includes Better UI And Improved Navigation

Finland-based start-up Jolla has made available the Sailfish 2.0 OS' preview for its early access users. The update brings several enhancements, including an improved user interface and better navigation.

The preview for Sailfish 2.0 OS is now available for download but only for early access users. It will also support Jolla's newly announced tablet along with the Jolla Phone.

The update has been in the works for a while since the OS was announced in March this year. Jolla hopes to offer users a simplified and seamless overall experience.

"Today we released the software update, which updates your Jolla phone with the new and refreshed Sailfish OS 2.0 user interface.Along with the simplified and beautiful new UI comes many fresh and enhanced features - this is for sure the biggest Sailfish OS software update so far!" notes the company in a blog post.

The company claims that the refreshed UI is easy and quick to use and will enhance the OS' flow "dramatically."

The new UI aside, users will be able to access the App Grid from any place on the operating system. One simply needs to swipe upwards from the bottom edge to access the same.

Sailfish 2.0 OS also brings the swipe down feature to open the Top menu with ambiences and lock action. One needs to swipe downwards from the top edge to access the same.

Users will also be able to swipe right or left between Events and Home, similar to a carousel. One can also capture video clips thanks to Sailfish 2.0 OS in the H.264 format. This feature is a new introduction and was not available previously to the OS' users.

Jolla has also redesigned Notes, the Camera app as well as the app covers for Gallery. New animations have also been included thanks to the update. Current apps such as Calendar, Camera and the Jolla Store also benefit from improvements.
