A new behind-the-scenes look at Legends of Tomorrow, the latest DC Comics offering from the CW has us wondering: is super villain Captain Cold the leader of the infamous DC supergroup?
Captain Cold, who is played by Wentworth Miller, made his CW debut on the television network's first season of The Flash, responded to a comment made by a reporter regarding how his character is usually assigned to lead the charge, or rather, placed within "leadership role for [the] bunch of rogues" — and more or less alluded to an upcoming power struggle within the series.
"[A leadership position will] transfer badly, is my guess, and it's also my hope," Wentworth stated in the clip. "It kind of makes for interesting viewing as an audience member. I don't want to tune in and see a bunch of people getting along."
Paired with a shot of Captain Cold sitting in a pretty regal-looking chair, all bets are certainly off.
Headed by producer and showrunner Greg Berlanti, the companion to the CW's Arrow and The Flash (about to embark on their fourth and second seasons, respectively), Legends of Tomorrow pits the DC Universe's villains and heroes on the same team to fight against a greater Big Bad: Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), which executive producer Phil Klemmer calls "the most unstoppable bad guy."
The show will star Doctor Who alumni Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, as well as both alumni from Arrow (Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Caity Lotz) and The Flash (Grant Gustin, Dominic Purcell) alike.
While the show will take place in the same universe as its CW predecessors, it won't follow the same format — instead, Legends of Tomorrow will be presented as an anthology series with standalone seasons.
Here's an official synopsis of the show:
"When heroes alone are not enough ... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?"
Legends of Tomorrow is set for a 2016 premiere, with a specific date to be determined.
