Last month, Hideo Kojima told his followers there was one scene in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that was considered too bloody and gory for Japanese audiences. So the Japanese-based developer was censoring the scene in its local version. Everyone else around the world would get the uncensored version.
Fans have been wondering which scene in question was censored in Japan, and now we know. YouTube channel Censored Gaming figured it out and edited together a video that shows both versions.
Watching the video — which, we should warn you, is over-the-top grisly and NSFW — it's easy to see why the scene was censored. The potentially vomit-inducing moment is not for those with weak constitutions.
The scene (spoiler alert) depicts Snake (aka Big Boss) encountering a young woman inside a hospital. She's bleeding heavily from the abdomen, and finally explains that a bomb has been surgically implanted inside her. Her torso then rips open so she reaches inside her own body and, while her intestines are spilling out, fishes around until she grasps the bomb. She pulls it out at last right before she collapses and dies.
If that sounds like something you'd like to see, along with the artful editing required to censor the goriest bits for Japanese audiences, then check this out. Don't say we didn't warn you.
